You essentially have two modes … in the city or outside of the city, and characters made for one fair poorly in the other. Oh, you'll want to have a chat with the players before you start. I wanted to change the world up a bit to make it somewhat less oppressive, give payers a few more options, and encourage a bit more exploration, but, that was just me. I used to have a thread about it around here … *vague hand gesture* … somewhere. The main RPG guy, who wrote everything essentially by himself, moved on around Xmas of last year and I've not heard of him being replaced with … two? Three? Books yet left to write. Setting's faboo! The books SERIOUSLY enrich things, more than traditionally splat books by a goodly margin, but I don't know how much longer the line will be supported. If you're unfamiliar with the setting as I was, I'll just offer a paragraph from the website of publisher Wyrd Games: So I wanted to scoop up the print supplements (from 1st edition) before they become harder to find. The only print supplement released since 2nd edition came out is from October 2018. Part of that is because I just want to read more about the world, but another part is that it appears that support for this game may be dwindling-I'm not 100% certain of this but it looks like there were only a few things released in 2019 and they are all PDF-only. Although I'm still learning the game, I've already picked up a bunch of the supplements. I tried to do some research on it and found that discussion/reviews were in fairly short supply, although I did learn that it shares its setting with a miniatures game called Malifaux which I'd also never heard of but which appears to have a sizeable following.Īnyway, I finally decided to just pull the trigger on the Core Rules book, 2nd edition (see cover at the bottom of this post), and have been sucked in by the setting. I stumbled across Through the Breach, which was a big surprise because it has been out for years but I'd never heard of it. Recently I was lamenting over how I love the Deadlands setting but have hesitations about all of the systems under which it has been published, so I went hunting for alternate Weird West-type games.
